Clinical-grade remote physical exams

With a user-friendly, FDA-cleared telehealth device kit and a smartphone app, users can conduct multiple clinically accurate physical exams anytime and anywhere.

To physicians this enables to gather the essential information needed to accurately diagnose the user’s condition and swiftly provide the necessary support, exactly where it's required.

What I did:

Beginning in 2020 and continuing through 2024, I worked on the development of Nonagon B2C medical system.

During this time, I led the project from the initial concept (zero stage) to its successful launch, secured FDA approval, and effectively guided its market entry in the U.S.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW

The Nonagon App is an intuitive, user-friendly guide.

It enables patients to connect with their chosen physicians in either real-time or self-paced mode.

Real-time mode, allows patients to connect with a physician via a VOIP-based video call, allowing the physician to view physical exam results instantly.

Self-paced mode lets patients collect their physical exam data at their convenience and share it with their physician, who will then review and respond.

Stethoscope exams challenges

Patient's Technical Skills

Performing stethoscope exams (such as lung or heart assessments) at home can be challenging — patients often struggle with following instructions and positioning their device correctly. That’s why we provide real human body demonstrations instead of illustrations, ensuring clear and accurate guidance. Our platform offers different body examples for men, women, and children, helping users confidently place the device in the right spot.

Environmental factors

such as background noise, can interfere with virtual lung and heart exams, making communication and assessment difficult. That’s why our platform verifies the noise level before you start, ensuring a quiet environment for the most accurate results. With smart noise detection, you receive clearer guidance and better assessments every time.

Skin exam challenges

Difficulty in Describing
the Affected Body Area

Patients often struggle to accurately describe or locate the affected skin area, especially during virtual exams. For example, they may say "hand" when they actually mean the shoulder, forearm, elbow, or palm, leading to confusion.

To solve this, our platform provides an interactive body map, allowing users to precisely identify and mark the exact location—ensuring clearer communication and more accurate assessments.

Clear Instructions:
The Key to Accurate Telemedicine Exams

In telemedicine, precision and clarity are essential for accurate self-administered exams. That’s why our app provides full exam instructions before guiding users through contextual steps. Without a clear understanding beforehand, misinterpretation can lead to inaccurate results.

Video Instructions:

On one hand, videos demonstrate movements in real time, reducing misunderstandings and showing natural body variations for accurate self-assessments. On the other, they can be overwhelming, as users must watch them fully instead of quickly scanning text.

To balance clarity and efficiency, we offer video instructions as an optional resource while defaulting to step-by-step text guidance, supported by real human body demonstrations instead of simplified illustrations. This ensures users receive the most accurate and accessible instructions.

The Importance of Color Coding
for Exam Differentiation

Color coding plays a crucial role in differentiating exams, enhancing user experience and efficiency in telemedicine apps. Here's why:

Quick Identification – Users can instantly recognize and select the correct exam without confusion.
Better Organization – Clear visual categorization helps streamline the exam process.
Reduced Errors – Prevents accidental selection of the wrong test, improving accuracy.
Enhanced User Experience – A well-structured interface makes navigation intuitive and less overwhelming.

By assigning distinct colors to each exam, we ensure clarity, efficiency, and a smoother user journey.
